Film South Florida.com: Describe Four in 20 words or less.
Traverzo: Four is the story of four people from different walks of life who come
together to accomplish a common goal.
Ê
Film South Florida.com: What was the film's source of inspiration?
Ê
Traverzo: Four was inspired by a sensitive subject that has made international
news over the last few years, primarily in countries such as Japan and
England.
Ê
Film South Florida.com: What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome while making Four?
Ê
Traverzo: Since the film was made on a very limited budget, I was not only the
writer and director but also assumed many other roles in the making of
the film. While this at times became overwhelming, my cast and extremely
small crew believed strongly in what I wanted to accomplish. For their
support and encouragement, I am deeply indebted to them.
Ê
Film South Florida.com: What was the most memorable moment of making Four?
Ê
Traverzo: The most memorable moment for me was the shooting of the beach scene in
Fort Lauderdale. In this scene, the four main characters are looking
out over the water at what awaits them and what they have been through.
As they leave, one of the characters stays behind and continues to look
out over the waves and impending storm clouds. That final image just
came together perfectly and I chose it to be the main still for the
film
Ê
Film South Florida.com: How important is it to you and your film that it is screening during the FLIFF?
Ê
Traverzo: Four was made in South Florida with many scenes filmed right in Fort
Lauderdale. I am proud that my film gets to be shown where it was
conceived. Also, the FLIFF shows that filmmaking is alive and well in South
Florida as well as providing an avenue which other local filmmakers can
come together to meet and discuss their own experiences.
Ê
Film South Florida.com: How has living in Florida shaped your vision as a filmmaker?
Ê
Traverzo: Living in Florida has opened my eyes to many different cultures,
peoples, languages, and attitudes. In that aspect, it has helped me to
realize that there are many stories that need to be told and one of the ways
to do that is through filmmaking.
Four will screen 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Parker Playhouse. Visit http://www.fliff.com/2004/listings/four.htm for more information.
